The title of Lisa Parrott’s latest.. is derived from the treks that the saxophonist makes between her native Australia and her adopted home in New York, but it could just as well refer to the way that her music travels from Ornette-inspired modernism to post-bop swing and back.

"she brings as much feeling, as much human emotion to the mix as anyone out there. It's a sound with a backbone, with a soul, with verve and resilience: a quartet dynamic born of a perfect confluence of disparate personalities gelling toward a common goal—getting to the idea."

"While Parrott's cross-cultural band and the stylistic diversity of this music both prove to be noteworthy, the real story is about Parrott's alto work and her chemistry with Dewhurst. Those who only know Parrott as a ballasting bari player have a lot to learn. She gives that heavy horn a few spins here, but it's her adroit maneuvers on alto that delight more often on this one. And when her alto joins forces with Dewhurst, there's magic in the air...

They're a perfect match and Round Tripper is the proof." Full review

"A Downbeat rising star for her sax work, I was looking forward to checking this out because Matt Wilson was on the date. I wouldn't have needed that much prompting if I knew she was Nicki Parrott's sister. Adapting well to big apple skronk, Parrott plays her improvs as muscularly as the boys she has to elbow out of the way to get some shelf space in New York clubs. If nothing else, you have to give her a lot of credit for turning "Waltzing Matilda" on it's head, but there's so much more to give her credit for than being that kind of one trick pony. Improv that hits the sweet spot..
